By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/the-most-beautiful-hawaiian-waves-from-clark-little.htmlWe have already published photographs of waves, such as a mini-selection of images "Under the crest of a wave" by photographer Brian Bielmann or simply a selection of works about waves and surfers by various photographers. Today we will talk about Hawaii, which is a real Mecca for surfers.
Clark Little is a photographer from the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, who specializes in "breaking on the shore" waves. We invite you to look at the amazing photographs and read the descriptions for them, made by the photographer himself. Although Clarke was born in California in 1968, he then moved to the North Shore and grew up in Oahu, Hawaii. From early childhood, Clark Little showed a talent for photographing dangerous waves. Thanks to Clark's photographs, those who have never been a surfer can experience what they experience when they find themselves in a wave and see these amazing colors of light and water.
1. “If you look closely at the wave at the top right, you can see the coastline and the “upside down” sun reflected in it, which is similar to how objects are reflected in a curved spoon upside down in a curved spoon.” (Clark Little)
2. “This picture was taken at 60cm in the water at low tide. In shallow water, the sand is drawn into the wave.” (Clark Little)
3. In Clark's photographs, those who have never been a surfer can experience what they experience when they find themselves in a wave and see these amazing colors of light and water. "Glass wave. Part of the hue on the right side of the water came from my daughter's camera, which is on the other side with her." (Clark Little)
4. “Morning photo of a wave rolling back. This means that the wave went back to the sea, hit the shore, and then collided with another wave, creating a real water arch. (Clark Little)
5. “Sea turtles swim close to the shore as they feed on coral reefs in the shallows. They are very focused and are always on the lookout for the breaking waves." (Clark Little)
6. In the 80s and 90s, Clark Little became famous as a pioneer in the field of photographing waves crashing on the shore. “This picture was taken off the coast of Ke Iki on the North Shore. Surfers might mistake this for a pipeline." (Clark Little)
7. Clark at work. A gifted surfer, Clark captures the amazing beauty of Oahu's waves and brings it to the world. “I enjoy the power and beauty of these water bombs passing by,” he says. “Now I can capture those moments without getting hit by the wave. Well, mostly." On November 16, Clark published his first book, "Point Break by Clark Little". On the 182 pages of the book, Clark has included a collection of his most popular photographs, as well as new photographs, each of which captures the power and beauty of Oahu's waves off the North Shore from the inside. (Clark Little)
8. Already a skilled surfer, Clark took his camera, jumped into the waves and began to capture the beauty and strength of the Hawaiian waves. What started as a family hobby turned into a social boom when Clarke decided to showcase his masterpieces to the public. (Clark Little)
9. “Morning photo of a wave at sunrise, which collided with the wave following it, which made an unimaginably beautiful arch in the air, similar to a fish sailboat.” (Clark Little)
10. "Underwater photo of a small wave going to the shore." (Clark Little)
11. “In the winter of 2008-2009, it rained continuously for several weeks, and the waters of the North Shore turned red due to the red Hawaiian sand. When the sun finally came out, I realized that this was a great opportunity to take amazing photos.” (Clark Little)
12. “Photo taken at night during the rising moon. The moon is that white dot to the right of the wave. Since I used a fisheye lens, distant objects appear very small." (Clark Little)
13. This surfer discovered his talent for photographing waves when his wife asked for a picture of the water to hang in her bedroom three years ago. The desire to please his wife turned into a successful career for Clark. “Photo taken early in the morning when the sun is just rising. The picture was taken underwater behind the wave. (Clark Little)
14. “The photo was taken before sunrise. It was pretty dark, so I used the flash. White foam on the waves illuminated by a flash. (Clark Little)
15. Thanks to Clark's talent for seeing the perfect wave and choosing the right moment, the world now has the opportunity to see all the amazing beauty of the Hawaiian waves - their color, depth and magic, which remained unknown for a long time. "The picture was taken at dawn - my favorite time to work." (Clark Little)
16. Clark considers the ocean his second home, a place that soothes him. His love for water is clearly visible in every photo of him. "The camera is partly in the water behind the wave and partly above the water in the wave." (Clark Little)
17. Over time, Clark began to incorporate his photography into other areas of life - they can be seen on skateboards, postcards, billboards, in magazines, in the form of photo prints, as well as in his recent book. For his success, he is grateful for his love for the waves. “This photo describes the state of the ocean in a calm, when the waters are calm and transparent, like glass. This is a photo of a glass lip, or a glass curl, already wrapped in a pipe. (Clark Little)
18. In less than three years, Clarke has earned national and international fame for his photographs of North Shore waves, which have appeared on Good Morning America, Inside Edition, The Today Show, Novorossiysk Real Estate, and ABC World News Now. “During the right roll and tide, some waves break on dry sand, which is drawn into the “pipe”. Photos like this show how small it is where I usually shoot.” (Clark Little)
19. "Underwater photo of a small creeping wave going to the shore." (Clark Little)
20. “Photo taken in Waimea Bay on the North Shore of Oahu in the summer. I love the reflection in the wave, fading into the sand and blending into the shadow." (Clark Little)
21. “One of the first photographs taken at the beginning of my work three years ago. The picture was taken at sunrise, and the shades of yellow and gold radiate from the shore of the beach and the surrounding mountains.” (Clark Little)
