The killers of Kuzi the cat were sentenced and sent to jail

The story of Kuzi the cat, tortured in Severodvinsk by a married couple of knackers last summer, shocked Russia. A mother of many children and a poet Anna-Victoria Gromovich with her roommate Artem Lavrentiev kidnapped and brutally killed a 14-year-old cat belonging to Artem's mother. The villains could have gotten away with a heinous crime if they hadn't started bragging about their disgusting act. Yesterday, the court made a decision and assigned real terms to the inhumans.

In August 2021, Gromovich and Lavrentiev stole an old red cat from the hostess and tortured him with sophistication for several days. Sadists tore out the animal's whiskers, broke bones, burned them with cigarettes, cut them with a knife. The volunteers did not find a living place on the body of the dead Kuzi — no one has ever seen such cruelty. Artyom told his mother that the cat jumped out of the window and ran away.

Maybe such an explanation has passed, but Anna-Victoria and Artem decided to brag about his vile act and posted a video of bullying on VKontakte. These videos outraged users of the social network and animal rights activists found out about them. A criminal case was opened against the roommates, accusing them of cruelty to animals with a demonstration on the web.

Artem Lavrentiev was also a thief. Therefore, he was additionally tried for theft. He stole not only Kuzya's cat from his mother, but also a bank card, the money from which the couple drank. The scum should have been kept in jail during the trial, but the couple has a little daughter and they were simply restricted in their freedom of movement.

As it turned out later, it was a mistake. Gromovich decided that she could get away with everything and started threatening the victim. She texted the elderly mother of the roommate, in which she promised that she would not leave the courthouse alive. Because of this, the court decided to send Anna-Victoria to jail.

The volunteers tried to make as many people as possible aware of the couple's crime. They managed to create a real resonance around the death of the cat. 300 thousand signatures were collected under petitions for the strict punishment of the knackers. Even celebrities got involved in the case and it didn't work out.

Gromovich and Lavrentiev were tried to the fullest extent of the law. On February 14, 2022, the verdict was passed. Artem Lavrentiev was sentenced to imprisonment in a general regime colony for 3 years. His girlfriend Anna-Victoria Gromovich will spend 3 years and 2 months in a penal colony.  Unfortunately, they will be released a little earlier, because they will be credited with the time served in jail.

The roommates are going to appeal the verdict. They even came up with reasons that prompted them to kill Kuzya. Gromovich repeatedly repeated that she hated the cat for shaking his genitals over the child's face. Therefore, the woman believes that she had the right to protect her child. But the Russians, judging by the posts in social networks and comments, regret that the fiends will be released very soon. Everything could have ended differently, because the prosecutor demanded 5 years of imprisonment for them.
