The FEMEN movement as we remember it before the breakup rumors

One of the founders of the Ukrainian feminist movement FEMEN, Yana Zhdanova, told the Apostrophe publication that the movement ceased to exist back in 2015. "FEMEN no longer exists. Since 2015, it's all over. Everyone dispersed like ships at sea. The team that was before is no longer there," Zhdanova said in an interview.

Many people know and remember FEMEN from the scandalous and shocking actions they staged around the world. In 2012, they registered in France and opened branches in other countries. According to Yana Zhdanova, the activists of the movement did not share money and power. Later, another FEMEN founder Anna Gutsol refuted this statement, saying: "We are not an organization, but a movement. And as long as there are people willing to participate in it, it exists." In general, while the girls are sorting themselves out, we decided to remember what they look like.

In 2013, when FEMEN was on the radar, photographer Guillaume Herbaut went to Kiev and did a photo shoot with activists of the movement. FEMEN in Ukraine tried to fight sexual tourism and urged women to be more determined and strong. They used their bodies as weapons, protesting naked or topless in the streets to achieve their goals. Erbo called his photo project The New Amazons — "New Amazons". The age in the captions to the photos is indicated at the time of creation of the photo project.
