Then they were almost forgotten about, and in some places even dismantled. But now a real "renaissance" of these devices has begun — they are being built in tourist areas around the world. The owners of the rides compete to see who has a higher, more unusual and roomier wheel. It seems that a new leader has appeared in the UAE, whose record will not be broken soon.
Recently opened in Dubai Ferris wheel "Eye of Dubai" (Ain Dubai) at a height of 250 meters. There are 48 cabins on its circumference, in which 1,750 people can ride at the same time! The wheel makes a full turn in 40 minutes. Vacationers can not just ride in the cabin and enjoy the incredible views of the sea and the city in the desert, but also order dinner on the trip.
The wheel works around the clock and there are plenty of people who want to ride on the new wonder of the world. The Dubai Holding company, which owns the attraction, has serious plans for it. Over time, the "Eyes of Dubai" cabins will be rented out for weddings and conferences.
As is often the case with the construction of large-scale facilities in desert conditions, engineers had to solve many problems. The scorching sun, daily temperature changes, sandstorms and other "joys" significantly complicated the task.
To build this giant, the Arabs chose a place on the artificial island of Bluewaters Island and reinforced the seabed under it with piles.
11,200 tons of steel were used for the construction of the entertainment facility, which is 33% more than was needed for the construction of the Eiffel Tower.
The opening of the record-breaking wheel was accompanied by enchanting fireworks and a laser show. They tried to attract as much attention to the "Eye of Dubai" as possible. This is due to the fact that the survey wheel was built as part of a program to enhance the attractiveness of Dubai for tourists.
