The dog sat for a week next to his friend who fell into the pit - until help arrived from Facebook

In early September, Tilly the golden retriever and Phoebe the basset hound didn't return from their walk. Their owner, a resident of Vashon Island in the US state of Washington, contacted Pet Protectors, and five days after the disappearance of the dogs, she wrote an ad on Facebook. Someone said in the comments that they saw Tilly in their area - and she seemed to be trying to attract attention and looking for help.

Organization volunteers went looking for Tilly and Phoebe. “When I got there, Tilly did not rush to me, but remained sitting at the edge of the pit. If the dog had run, we would not have realized that the second dog was sitting in the pit. Tilly made it clear that Phoebe was in trouble, ”said the volunteer.

Both dogs were alive and relatively healthy - they avoided dehydration because they drank rainwater.
