It took George and Nancy Corbett seven years of hard work, including the incredible move of the house up the shore of Tampa Bay on a barge to Ruskin, Florida.

The 650-square-meter Victorian mansion with seven bedrooms, five fireplaces, an elevator, stained glass windows and an artificial pond with a built-in waterfall was put up for sale two years ago. The Corbetts, who ran a Baptist shelter in North Carolina, bought the house for just one dollar from a developer who planned to build a condominium on the Palmetto lot where the house stood.
A wealthy family found their ideal project: they spent about 250 thousand dollars to float the purchased house along the coast to Ruskin, where they had a plot of land. Before that, the couple restored six houses, but in the case of this mansion, they greatly underestimated the amount of work to be done. The Corbetts thought they would spend no more than three years, but in the end it took twice as long to restore: they had to build the first floor from scratch, and then repair the rest of the house.
The four-storey mansion is now decorated with luxurious curtains, walnut and oak panels and stained glass windows. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Now it overlooks Tampa Bay, and nearby there is a separate two-story guest house, a garage for four cars and a pier.
"It's not about money. We like doing this," George Corbett told the Tampa Bay Times in 2014. Then they put the mansion up for sale for $4.9 million. As a result, it was bought for only $ 1.1 million, although 1.9 million was spent on its restoration.
The identity of the buyer was not disclosed, but now the Victorian mansion, which was restored literally from the ruins, is being sold again, this time for $ 2.4 million.
