The cleanest lake in the world

The depth of visibility through distilled water is about 80 meters. The depth of visibility of the lake, located on the South Island of New Zealand, is 76 meters. For the first time, this newly discovered natural wonder was photographed by Klaus Tiemann with the support of the New Zealand Department of Conservation.

7. Thanks to the exclusive arrangement of Klaus Tiemann with the New Zealand Department of Conservation, the photographer was allowed to make the first dive in the lake.

8. The lake is sacred to the local Maori tribes, with whom an agreement was also made regarding the immersion of the photographer. A special permit was also obtained for a helicopter landing on the shore of the lake, which delivered specially prepared equipment on a clear sunny day.

9. The upper lake is above the tree line, so its waters are not polluted even by foliage.
