This year, photographers from 166 countries sent almost 140,000 of their works, which became a record in the history of the competition. The works of all the shortlisted photographers, along with the works of the winners of the competition, will be exhibited from May 1 to May 18 at the Somerset House Cultural Center in London.
We present to your attention the finalists of the contest in the categories "Free Photography" and "Professional".

2. The winners of the open categories will be announced on March 18. The winners of the category "Professional", as well as the special award "Photographer of the Year" will be announced at a ceremony in London on April 30.

3. All these photos will go to Somerset House, London, for the exhibition "2014 Sony World Photography Awards". A ticket for it can already be purchased. The works of the winners will also be presented in the book "2014 Sony World Photography Awards".

26. Pressing matters: There is no more Moore. Within 39 minutes on May 20, 2013, the strongest tornado with winds reaching 337 km per hour swept along a 27-kilometer path. The city of Moore, Oklahoma, took the brunt of the blow. 13-year-old Destiny Pirman collects things from her destroyed bedroom. She and her mother were most afraid that the house would be leveled to the ground, but, fortunately for them, it survived, even though it was destroyed.
