That is why many public figures create an aura of mystery and understatement around themselves. Often, such intrigue raises interest in a person to the skies. This happened with the American actress Aquanetta, who complemented her bright beauty with equally spectacular stories from life.
Among the American movie divas of the mid-20th century, Aquanetta occupies a special place. Her exotic appearance, unusual style of clothing and bright behavior distinguished her from other actresses. She introduced herself as the "Venezuelan Volcano", claiming that she was from South America. But to this day, no one knows for sure either her true origin or her real name.
Aquanetta was born on July 17, 1921, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, USA. However, some sources claim that it happened a year earlier. Her biography is full of mysteries, and almost no reliable facts about her have survived. Perhaps her real name is Mildred Davenport. But the actress herself claimed that her parents named her Burnu Aquanetta, which in the Arapaho language means "Running Fire - Deep Water".
Acquanetta's parents were probably either Native American or African American, but she has sometimes claimed that her family originated in Venezuela. According to one version, she was orphaned at age three and adopted by a Hispanic family. According to another version, she grew up in a large family with six other children and ran away from home at age 15 to try her luck at acting.
In the early 40s, Aquanetta came to New York to pursue a career as a model. After several photo shoots for magazines, the girl was noticed by film producers. In 1942, she signed a contract with the Universal Pictures studio and played several small roles in films with a modest budget. These works of hers went unnoticed by viewers.
After that, Aquanetta worked with several more studios, appearing in 10 films from 1942 to 1953. Among the actress's most famous film works are the role of the Leopard Woman in Tarzan and the Leopard Woman and the role of Paula Dupree in The Ape Woman.
After finishing her film career, Aquanetta got a job as a DJ at a radio station in Los Angeles. It is known that Aquanetta was seriously interested in poetry. In 1974, she published a book of poems, "Audible Silence."
During her life, the actress was married three times. In her first marriage to multimillionaire Luciano Baszuc, she had a son, Sergio. In her third marriage to politician Jack Ross, she had four more sons: Lance, Tom, Jack Jr., and Rex. Acquanetta died on August 16, 2004, from Alzheimer's disease in Phoenix.
Aquanetta managed to create a mysterious image around herself that still excites the imagination. What do you think, does secrecy help to become a cult figure, or is openness more important? Share your opinion in the comments!
