The American changed his gender twice before he found happiness

Brian Belovich from Brooklyn, at the age of 63, feels like a completely happy person. He is married, helps other people with solving their psychological problems and believes that he is in a state of complete harmony with himself. But this was not always the case — in order to find himself, Brian had to go through a difficult path, and not quite the usual one.

The life of Brian Belovich is so extraordinary that you can make a film about it. Since childhood, he felt that he was not living in his own body and should have been born a girl. When Brian walked down the street with his mother, passers-by stopped to admire the baby, who looked like an angel and said: "Oh, what a beauty, where did you get such curls and long eyelashes?"

When you're three years old, it's very strange to hear this, but there's nothing you can do. But Brian's mother did not hesitate to express her indignation and sometimes quite rudely. "He's a boy!" the woman shouted to the affectionate passers-by in the face and dragged her son by the hand.

The boy's father behaved no better — he liked to tease his son with words: "Why are you walking like that? Stop shaking your ass." There were also problems at school, because classmates teased the feminine and overweight Brian, bringing him to tears.

"They followed me home, threw stones at me and shouted that I was gay," says Belovich. He was afraid not only of insults, but also that his father would hear them and start bullying again. Brian's childhood and part of his youth were spent in such a "friendly" atmosphere.

Getting to know Paul Bricker, who had similar problems, was a real salvation for Belovich. He moved in with a new friend who lived with his mother— a good and sensible woman. Brian called Paul a "mentor" because he gave him the first important life lessons that the guy could not get from his parents.

Together they plunged into the world of drag shows and began to use their uniqueness to make money. Unfortunately, Bricker died at the age of 27 from an aortic aneurysm and Belovich was once again left alone in the world. Then an 18-year-old guy with only $ 100 in his pocket moved to New York, where he began earning travesty performances.

At the age of 19, the guy found a doctor who promised to help change the gender and did not ask many questions at the same time. On the recommendation of the doctor, Brian began taking hormones, from which his figure became even more feminine and even a small breast appeared.

Unsatisfied with the result, he turned to a plastic surgeon and inserted massive breast implants. The metamorphoses that happened to Belovich allowed him to change his documents and become Natalia Tish Gervais.

The young travesty became popular in the club environment and he began to be invited to fashionable parties. He sang, danced, performed with humorous numbers and earned good money. It seemed that there was no reason to be discouraged, but in fact Belovich felt even more unhappy after being reborn into a woman.

Disappointed in life, Brian began to lean on alcohol, and soon drugs appeared in his life. Physical and psychological health was undermined and life was rapidly going downhill. All the money earned on the show, Belovich spent on his vices and the time came when he had to leave his rented apartment and settle on a friend's couch.

Brian was lucky with his friends — they did not abandon him during a difficult period and supported him both financially and morally. They helped him get rid of drug addiction and provided him with a roof over his head and a job. Moving away from the drug frenzy, Belovich realized that he no longer wanted to be a woman.

There was only one genital surgery left until the point of no return, but instead Brian decisively removed the breast implants. He stopped taking hormones, started getting a haircut like a man and started talking about himself in a masculine way. By the time this happened, the world had changed a little and gays began to be more tolerant.

One day Belovich saw a guy in the gym who looked somewhat feminine, but at the same time did not hide his true gender. Brian thought that he could live the same way, remaining a man, but at the same time not hiding his homosexuality.

Everything worked out for him and, returning to the male body, Belovich felt deeply satisfied. Now he is married to 61-year-old gardener Jim Russell and is engaged in conducting lectures and seminars for those who, like himself, cannot find themselves. In 2018, his book was published with an unusual, but accurately reflecting the essence of the title - "Transfigured: My path from boy to girl, to woman, to man."
