We looked around for a hundred years in the past and gathered the 15 most spectacular stunt, immortalized films in which they appeared.
1. Finally safe! (1923) / Safety Last!
Directors: Fred C. Newmeyer, Sam Taylor Starring: Harold Lloyd, Mildred Davis, Bill Strother, Noah young, Westcott Clarke
The famous comedian of the silent film era, Harold Lloyd became famous not only as a Comedy and dangerous stunts, which he was not bothered even by the fact that in 1919 he "got game" — in the hands of an actor, a bomb exploded, tear him two fingers and part of a palm. Now, in the climax of one of the most famous of his films "are Finally safe," his character, an ordinary clerk, climbing up the wall of a multistory building, at one point hanging above the street on the arrow giant hours (how can you not remember "Back to the future" and "Operation A"?). In 20-ies of the last century, even the simplest trick photography was a difficult task, and Lloyd had to make his ascent "live" — let the building was not as high as it seems in the movie (decoration wall was built on the roof of the house that hid a clever camera work). Small fly in the ointment — a very long time in the press cultivated the legend that Lloyd nobody duplicated, but in 1980, in a documentary called "Hollywood" one of the stunt said that substituted Lloyd's General plan.
2. Steamboat Bill (1928) / Steamboat Bill, Jr.
Directors: Buster Keaton, Charles Reisner Starring: Buster Keaton, Tom McGuire, Ernest Torrence, Tom Lewis, Marion Byron
Perhaps the main SINOTRUK early Hollywood and one of the main instigators of Jackie Chan, Buster Keaton invented and performed many challenging and dangerous stunts that his legacy can be found almost in every modern blockbuster. However, experts make a short Comedy episode of "Steamboat bill" in which an actor falls wall of the house — but in such a way that it appears in the window opening of the second floor. The slightest miscalculation — and Keaton would have remained only a wet spot, and, knowing than it can end, a good half of the film crew during the filming of this episode, just gone. The real risks of this trick can be judged at the "Operations And part 2 of" Jackie Chan, in which the famous kinobar literally quoted the "Steamboat bill", that's just shooting scenery in the movie is not an example of thinner.
3. Stagecoach (1939) / Stagecoach
Director: John Ford Starring: Claire Trevor, John Wayne, Andy devine, John Carradine, Thomas Mitchell
One of the first "real" fighters, "diligence" — an exciting Western that tells about a group of people traveling on a stagecoach across the Prairie controlled by militant Indians of the tribe of Apaches. These are the most influential film, which had a huge influence on the formation of Hollywood and movies in General — the movie the great Orson Welles, ready to shoot his no less epoch-making "Citizen Kane", reviewed more than 40 times. We are, however, in this case we are interested in one particular scene of the attacks of the Indians, which is full of a very spectacular stunts. For example, the jump of a stuntman Yakima of Canotta depicting one of the Indians on horses rushing into the harness, and then a slow slide and eventually fall right under the hooves!
4. Ben Hur (1959) / Ben-Hur
Director: William Wyler Starring: Charlton Heston, Jack Hawkins, Haya Harareet, Stephen Boyd, Hugh Griffith
Largely outdated (despite its 11 Oscars), "Ben Hur" by William Wyler now waiting for a radical renewal under the leadership of Timur Bekmambetov (in 2016 needs to get a remake), but in terms of stunts, the film looks incredible to this day. So, the Central scene of the film — the chariot race is a mandatory part of various isotopes of the best action scenes in the history of cinema, that we are unable to pass her attention. And just curious that one of the most impressive tricks of the picture was an accident. At one point of the episode rushing horses jump over wallowing in the way of debris, and the chariot soars sharply at them in the air, almost throwing the rider forward, under the wheels. Drove the chariot Joe Canutt, the son of the aforementioned the Yakima Canutt, and one of the witnesses of those shots later said that Yakima seeing this jump, literally turned white from fear for my son.
5. The man with the Golden gun (1974) / The Man with the Golden Gun
Director: Guy Hamilton Starring: Roger Moore, Christopher Lee, Britt Ekland, Maud Adams, Herve Vieles
Each film in the James bond contains a lot of difficult and spectacular stunts, so if you want we could make a full crop top on the basis of only one bond, but do not forget that only one 007 alive modern action cinema! Specifically "the man with the Golden gun" is remembered by many a spectacular jump in the car with revolution 360 degrees. Fulfilled his British stuntman, Bumps Willard, and performed with the first (and last) of the double — before that, the trajectory of the machine counted on the most powerful computers of its time, and filmed with eight cameras and at high speed, so that the audience could see the jump in all the details. Interestingly, this trick was conceived much earlier than the film itself, to the extent that the producers of "James bond" albert Broccoli and Harry Saltzman officially patented it, to avoid its "debut" in the movie before it will perform the James bond.
6. The spy who loved me (1977) / The Spy Who Loved Me
Director: Lewis Gilbert Starring: Roger Moore, Barbara Bach, curt Jurgens, Richard Kiel, Caroline Munro
Box office the previous film "James bond" previously mentioned "the Man with the Golden gun", despite the masterpiece the trick turned out to be so modest (almost two times less than the previous bond movie), which the franchise was seriously thinking to put a cross. But in the end gave her another chance, starting in "the Spy who loved me" is one of the best movies of "James bond", a real decoration of which was the chic ski chase, filmed in the mountains of Canada. In her climax 007 at high speed flies to ski off a cliff straight into the abyss — a few seconds we saw the drop-down behind him the parachute. This trick was performed by stuntman Rick Sylvester, and pattern makers, it cost half a million dollars (Sylvester earned in this dangerous jump of 30 thousand dollars) — at that time it was the most expensive stunt in movie history.
7. Indiana Jones: raiders of the lost ark (1981) / Raiders of the Lost Ark
Director: Steven Spielberg Starring: Harrison Ford, Karen Allen, Paul Freeman, Ronald Lacey, John Rhys-Davies
To tell you now about the value of the first film about Indiana Jones is just for entertainment cinema in General — a thankless task, it is enough to mention that without "of the Lost ark" and Steven Spielberg's modern blockbusters would be quite different. An inspired blend of exotic adventure, rollicking humor and exciting action conquers from the first frame, each action scene deeper spitted on the hook. One of the most spectacular episodes of the picture — the chase, in which Indiana pursues a Nazi convoy. At one point he finds himself on the front radiator rushing of the truck and can't climb up, coming down under it — and then hang out some time on a rocky road, clinging to the car with his whip. Famous trick made by professional stuntman Terry Leonard, but Harrison Ford was rushing to do everything yourself, still participated in the filming of several major plans and made a few serious injuries.
8. Operation, And (1983) / 'A' gai wak
Directors: Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung Starring: Jackie Chan, Sammo hung, Ian Biao, dick Wei, Mars
From the side it may seem that the career of Jackie Chan all the time was on the rise, but early 80s was for him a difficult time. His attempt to conquer Hollywood with the "Big fight" and "Race Cannonball" failed, and Hong Kong project "Lord Dragon" (1982) was a real nightmare in manufacturing and, again, disappointed charges. "Operation And" meant to Chan very much, and all the calculations were correct — the audience appreciated the revolutionary battle scenes, and a wonderful sense of humor, and amazing stunts. The undisputed "king" which is a tribute to Jackie already mentioned "Finally safe," the fall of Chan with high town hall where it hung on the arrow giant hours. Interestingly, the first time it failed trick — Chan struck a linen canopy, as intended, but on the second odpruzeni and almost broke his neck. Any other actor would have made the conclusion that it is "W" for a reason, and waved would be in a dangerous stunt, but Jackie took that as a good sign and he fell off the hall twice, already, fortunately, successfully.
9. Police story (1985) / Ging chat goo si
Director: Jackie Chan Starring: Jackie Chan, Maggie Cheung, Brigitte Lin, Kwok-hung Lam, bill Tung
Another highly ambitious action project of Jackie Chan, "Police story" combines so many different genres that make your head spin — in a very serious murder and bases should be a funny scene, in which Jackie juggles a variety of handsets, but the drama is interrupted by a sitcom, in which the audio messing around with the cactus is perceived by others as evidence of sex. But most importantly, making the painting was included in the story, — her finale, luxury bike stunt fight in a multi-story shopping center, in which Jackie and his enemies beat so many Windows that the stunt team Chang called the film "Glass story". All this sonorous extravaganza is crowned by Jackie jump on the giant pole and crashed it right through illumination. A calculated stunt was bad, and to the first floor of Chan got seriously wounded, but why not do it for the sake of art!
10. Fatal destruction (1990) / Chi se da feng bao
Director: Yun-Wah Kam Cast: moon Lee, Simon Yam, ray lui, Kiu, Wei Niu, Robin Shu Not Jackie Chan stunt alone Hong Kong cinema is one of the most dangerous stunts can be seen in the Thriller "Fatal destruction", to which Chan had no relationship. In a key scene of the movie villains who kidnapped the little daughter of the main character, trying to escape from an angry mother on the machine — girl with one of the villains holding the hair out of the car, sticking his hand out the window. If Hong Kong cinema was not so parochial, pattern makers for this trick would have torn into small pieces. Subsequently, however, the authors claimed that the baby was never in danger — in sleeve "villain" was threaded steel beam, which insured the girl. However, the speed at which the moving car, was rather big, and if something went wrong, we would have to remember the old sadistic poem ("all smeared on the bus, boy riding car").
11. Golden eye (1995) / GoldenEye
Director: Martin Campbell Starring: pierce Brosnan, Sean Bean, Izabella Scorupco, Famke Janssen, Joe don Baker
Restart the "James bond" after a long break of six years, with the next change of the role of 007 just had to open some Grand trick, and Director Martin Campbell it organized. With James bond in the sample 90 x we meet at the Swiss contra dam, where brave spy with the face of Pierce Brosnan (although the stunt was performed by the stuntman Wayne Michaels) dives down to the wire. 220 meters of free fall, and extremely spectacular scene, firmly engraved in his memory to all viewers without exception. So hard, in 2002, viewers British channel Sky Movies chose his best trick in the history of cinema. Now this jump has become a popular attraction for tourists and anyone can repeat the feat agent only 250 euros.
12. 13th district (2004) / Banlieue 13
Director: Pierre Morel Starring: Cyril Raffaelli, David Belle, Tony D Amario, Bibi Naseri, Dani Verissimo
One of the most important films, which originated in the world of fashion for parkour (released a couple of years earlier, "Yamakasi" was, with all due respect, is too weak as a movie and a big splash of is not produced), "13th district" is a real benefit to the French traceur David bell, quick, agile and graceful as a Cheetah. Its possibilities he shows in the first scene of the film where his character, a street kid named Leito, fleeing from a gang of armed thugs in the process literally seeping through the narrow window and showing true spider tenacity. The final chord in this brilliantly directed, filmed and performed by chase getting Leito jump from one building to another — shot so that its authenticity is no doubt. The film was popular enough to spawn a sequel, in terms of tricks is also very impressive, and the recent Hollywood remake (all — with the participation of the bell).
13. The dark knight (2008) / The Dark Knight
Director: Christopher Nolan Starring: Christian bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal
Although cash battle victory of the film adaptation of the comics from Marvel — colorful, lively, cartoon, work of Christopher Nolan in this genre are not less, and even more respect. Not only for "a darker, more realistic" approach to the story and characters, but for the love of "practical" special effects, which are not on the computers, and the old fashioned way, hands decorators, pyrotechnics and stunt. So, one of the most spectacular stunts the most grossing film of Nolan's "the Dark knight", also made by hand, no computer graphics — this is a coup giant 18-wheel truck on a city street. Nolan tried to convince slightly to restrain the ambitions of taking the truck modest, but the Director was adamant. In the end, to turn the truck had twice, once outside the city to make sure that everything goes as it should, and multi-ton machine would not fly in an uncontrolled direction, smashing city buildings. Moreover, in the car while this revolution really was a man! Trick shot with seven cameras located at different points in the final Assembly included footage of two of them.
14. The Beginning (2010) / Inception
Director: Christopher Nolan Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen page, Tom hardy, Ken Watanabe
Unlike most of these in this collection of tricks in trick-taking spinning out of the blockbuster, Christopher Nolan's "inception" none of the stuntmen serious danger threatened, but it was so difficult to prepare and has proved to be so spectacular on film that we could not include it in our article. We will remind, in a key scene of the film one of the characters in the movie performed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt is first in the hallway and then in the room with the ever-changing gravity — and he must not only somehow to keep her balance, but also to deter the enemy. The authors built for the filming of several rotating scenery and thought through a complex system of auxiliary tethers for actors and Gordon-Levitt spent two weeks in training sessions exclusively for the filming of this scene.
15. Mission: impossible-Ghost Protocol (2011) / Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol
Director: Brad Bird Starring: Tom cruise, Paula Patton, Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner, Michael Nyquist
Tom cruise is known as the actor who likes to perform his stunts himself. He makes this point, as the same Jackie Chan, and builds on its popularity, but on the love cruise to the gamesmanship in the frame says it all, who worked with him. One of its main achievements in this field was the fourth part of the "Mission impossible", in which Cruz himself climbed the tallest building in the world Burj Khalifa, located in Dubai. It is clear that the stunts on the snow, and even with the participation of stars of class "A", demanded scrupulous, and in preparation for this scene took an entire month — at the Paramount studios built a wall height of 25 meters, which step by step worked out every movement and placement of cameras. And when shooting the episode ended, Cruz climbed to the top of the tower where the photographers have made some additional pictures of his, barefoot, sitting above the city at the height of bird flight, at the sight of these pictures, the legs become wobbly themselves. However, it is believed that much of it (including photos) in fact it made a duplicate of the stars, but this does not diminish the impact of what we see on screen in the movie.
