Statue of Ushiku Daibutsu in Japan
Height: 100 m, 120 m - with a pedestal.
50 km from Tokyo in the city of Ushiku there is a statue of Buddha Amitabha. Inside there are four floors.
The ground floor is "of infinite light and infinite life": a darkened room where religious music plays and incense exudes aromas.
The second is "The World of Gratitude and Appreciation": devoted to biblical studies.
The third is the Lotus Sanctuary: contains a collection of 3,000 golden Buddha statues. An observation deck is located on the fourth floor: you don’t have to walk, the elevator takes visitors to a height of 85 m.
Statue of the goddess Kannon in Sendai
Height: 100 m.
In Japan, you can walk in the bowels of another deity - the goddess of mercy Kannon, which is located in the city of Sendai.
Entering through the dragon's mouth, you will see 33 statues of a female deity that represent human desires, 12 statuettes corresponding to the Chinese zodiac signs, and other religious symbols.
On the topmost, 12th floor, there is the Kannon Bodhisattva Temple - 108 buddhas are displayed here, symbolizing human suffering and delusion.
From the top there is a beautiful view of the city and golf courses.
"Motherland" in Kyiv
Height: 62 m, 102 m - with a pedestal.
The sister of the Russian "Motherland" in Kyiv on the right bank of the Dnieper is more interesting for tourists: you can get into it by buying a ticket to the observation deck at a height of 36 or 92 m.
There are two elevators inside: one vertical - for tourists, the other inclined - technical.
The elevator goes up with nine stops to the very head of the sculpture.
At the top there are hatches and technical platforms. You can penetrate both arms of the monument: to the shield and the sword.
Experts are confident that the monument will stand for more than 150 years - it is not afraid of even earthquakes with a magnitude of 9 points.
Columbus monument in Barcelona
Height: 60 m.
Many have been to Barcelona and passed by Columbus on the Rambla, but few can boast that they were inside and even at the top of the monument, because they simply do not know about this possibility.
Meanwhile, everything is simple: you need to go around the monument, find the door, pay a couple of euros and take the elevator to the top of the pedestal. From there you will have a picturesque panorama of the city: you can see and photograph the sea, the port and nearby streets. Don't pass by!
Statue of Liberty in New York
Height: 46 m, 93 m - with a pedestal.
The French gave the legendary statue to the Americans in honor of the 100th anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence.
The opening took place in 1886. One of the engineers of the statue was Gustave Eiffel, the creator of the Eiffel Tower in Paris: it was he who made sure that stairs were laid inside the Statue of Liberty and two viewing platforms were made: in the crown and on the torch.
At the moment, only a platform in the crown is available to tourists: through small windows you can look at Manhattan, the hands of the statue and tourists crowding at the foot. To do this, you need to overcome 356 steps on foot.
Five groups of ten people are allowed per day, so tickets must be bought ahead of time: now they are on sale for October.
For a long time, no one was allowed into the statue: for eight years it was empty after the 2001 terrorist attacks for security reasons, then it was under reconstruction for a whole year. Now the symbol of New York has walkways, security systems and modern elevators for the disabled.
Statue of Genghis Khan in Mongolia
Height: 40 m, 50 m - with a pedestal.
On the occasion of the 800th anniversary of Mongolia, the largest equestrian statue in the world, a monument to Genghis Khan, was erected 54 km from Ulaanbaatar, in Tsongzhin-Boldog.
The horse's body contains a ladder and an elevator, with which you can climb to the observation deck to a height of 30 m - it is located right in the head of the animal.
The pedestal under the statue houses a museum, an art gallery, a map of the conquests of Genghis Khan, a cafe, a billiard room, a conference room and a souvenir shop.
Statue of Jesus Christ in Bolivia
Height: 34.2 m, 40.44 m with pedestal.
Inside the statue of Christ in Cochabamba there is a spiral staircase with 1399 steps, breaking through which you can look through the eyes of the statue at the city.
The Bolivian statue is 2.5 meters taller than the well-known Christ the Redeemer monument in Rio de Janeiro, where tourists are not allowed to enter.
An exception was made only in May of this year: photographer and blogger Lee Thompson and a friend went inside the Brazilian Christ, walked on his head and shoulders, and also took a selfie on top of the statue.
Statue of Jesus Christ in Vietnam
Height: 32 m.
The most beautiful view of the South China Sea opens from the viewing platforms installed on the shoulders of the statue of Christ in the city of Vung Tau.
The guidebook says that six Vietnamese can fit on them at the same time. To prevent tourists from walking on the hands of Jesus, Vietnamese engineers stuffed special spikes on the shoulders of the statue.
The path to the top is not so easy: first you have to climb Mount Nyo, then go through 129 steps of a spiral staircase.
Tourists are asked to follow the dress code: entry is barefoot only, it is advisable for women to wear a skirt, for men - in trousers.
Statue "Bayern" in Munich
Height: 18.2 m.
A small bronze statue of "Bavaria" is located on Theresa Meadow in Munich - at its foot the Oktoberfest festival is held annually. But not everyone realizes that inside the monument, which is already more than a century and a half, there is a staircase with 66 steps: you can climb it to the observation deck located in the head of the statue, unless, of course, you suffer from claustrophobia.
