Russian design bureau creates "iPhones" - video recorders

The Datakam G5 car DVR and its creators, the Datakam design bureau, have nothing to do with the Cupertino corporation. And yet, in reviews and user reviews, the Russian registrar is invariably and often compared directly with the main brainchild of Apple. And there really are reasons for this.

A group of engineers initially did not want to mindlessly resell "typical" Chinese registrars (which is done by 99% of domestic brands of registrars that flooded store shelves). Initially, Datakam Design Bureau was driven by the idea to create something truly unique and at the same time extremely useful. The experience gained while working in the defense industry and close cooperation with foreign fellow inventors came in handy. As a result, about 20 proprietary know-hows patented by Datakam Design Bureau were created for the Datakam G5 recorders, which have absolutely no analogues. Neither the Taiwanese, Koreans and Japanese. Not even the Chinese. A detailed description can be found in the review at the link, and we will tell you about the most interesting.

Among the main features, of course, is the quality of shooting. "Overclocked" by the joint efforts of Russian and American engineers and inventors, the Ambrella processor allows you to shoot super-clear video with an unusually high bit rate of 20 Mbps. All other registrars, even the flagships of Korean or Japanese brands, have a maximum of 15 Mbps. And the clarity of the picture, respectively, is lower. With such a high quality of shooting, you need an extra large amount of memory to store videos. Engineers have taken care of this as well, having built in two whole slots for microSD cards up to 32 GB - in all registrars without exception (even top ones!) There is only one card. The high speed of video processing allows using Datacam as a professional sports camera. And the presence of the GPS / GLONASS module and proprietary video stream processing algorithms make it possible to record high-quality video and detail even at extremely high speeds.

For example, in this video, a skier (by the way, Vlad Mekhantsev, Chief Engineer of Datakam Design Bureau) is driving down a mountain at a speed of 103 km/h!

Not all specialized action cameras can boast of such functionality! For example, popular American GoPros are not equipped with GPS modules at all. Therefore, they cannot track either the route of movement or the speed of the object.

Another unique development of Russian engineers and inventors is a removable blend filter that is put on the camera. The main task of this element is to protect the lens from light and remove glare from the frame. Thus, the recording becomes much more detailed and better. Even manufacturers of accessories for photographic equipment did not think of combining a lens hood and a polarizing filter into one, although it would seem that the idea lies on the surface.

Finally, the mounting design is also non-standard. To attach the recorder to the holder, it is enough just to put the pin into the hole. The rest of the work is done by neodymium nanomagnets. At first glance, the design seems very light, but in fact, the "clutch" is very strong. This unique Russian development will not even be able to be copied by Chinese assemblers of cheap consumer goods soon - the production of such a structural element is too difficult and expensive.

By the way, many even cheap DVRs "Made in China" have GPS. But the domestic GLONASS, together with GPS, is another unique feature of domestic development. The Datakam G5 has a reinforced antenna that works with two constellations of satellites, which allows you to quickly determine the coordinates and maintain a more stable connection.

Why in the registrar GPS and GLONASS? First, to record the route and speed of movement. Secondly, for always perfectly accurate time and date settings. Thirdly, for the safety of the driver. The Datakam G5 memory contains the coordinate base of all "dangerous" sections on the roads of cities in Russia and several other countries. In addition, there is also the possibility of warning the driver about speed bumps, speed cameras and even mobile “ambushes” of the traffic police. How it works can be seen in the video:

ATTENTION!!! The editors of the resource strongly recommend that you still follow the rules of the road and do not repeat the actions shown in this video!

This is how the Russian development turned out: modern, technically well-thought-out, with tricky recommendations from the manufacturers themselves. Designed with the Russian mentality in mind, not otherwise. The main drawback of the devices is the high price. The simplest equipment will cost 9,900 rubles, the maximum - 15,900 rubles. However, as even a short acquaintance showed, the price is 100% justified. PS If someone is interested in how this Russian registrar works, or someone does not believe that this is a real Russian development, welcome to a detailed analysis, where not only Datacams, but also other devices are disassembled to the screw, so that they compare all the "underground": http://autokadabra.ru/shouts/90162
