Richard Silver: the sights of the world in an unusual focus

Categories: World

Richard Silver spent almost seven years and 35 thousand dollars to create this stunning portrait of our planet. During this time, he went on trips many times and visited most of the places that are considered mandatory among tourists around the world. These are the legendary Greek Acropolis and the stone heads of Easter Island, the famous Brooklyn Bridge in New York and the Parliament Building in London.

Despite the fact that there are a lot of photos of world-famous attractions, Richard managed to present a completely new look at them. Thanks to the tilt-shift photo processing method, the emphasis shifts towards the viewer, and the buildings seem like toys. Thus, the Eiffel Tower or Machu Picchu seem to be reduced copies of real buildings.

Richard Silver: the sights of the world in an unusual focus

Narrated by Richard Silver: "In this photo series, you are traveling with me.

Most people are able to recognize the places that I photograph. When they look at my work, and smiles appear on their faces, it means that seven years were not spent in vain.

Some people don't believe me, even when I say that this is a real photo with real people. The most common question that I am asked is: "Is this a model or a real building?". You will not believe it, but sometimes it is quite difficult to prove that I did not photograph a smaller copy of, say, the pyramids of Giza."

Richard's work is on permanent display at the Lagrange Gallery in the USA.
