Popov is not ashamed: how the Silver Rain radio station works

Today, May 7, Russia traditionally - for the 70th year in a row - celebrates Radio Day. This is because it was on May 7, 1895 that the legendary Russian physicist and mustachioed Alexander Popov, beloved by all hipsters, demonstrated the first radio communication session to the world. Thirty years later, the event was solemnly celebrated with all the Soviet scale, and since 1945 this day has been celebrated annually.

Although we are far from being radio operators, we have a long and tender attachment to one of our radio stations. And therefore, with the most festive mood, we dedicate this today's post to her. Radio station "Silver Rain". Or rather, her deep and terribly interesting inner world.

By the way, Silver Rain itself is also a hero of the day this year: for exactly 20 years - since July 4, 1995 - the radio station has been on the air at the Moscow frequency of 100.1 FM, daily delighting listeners with its delicate musical taste and the coolest author's program content .

When the guys were just starting to work, the radio station's office consisted of only four rooms - on-air, engineering, negotiation and a general office, in which all employees, including the general director, were located.

Years passed, the radio station grew, and at some point it became very crowded in this room. So the decision was made to move to a new office. It was 2004.

The determining factor in choosing the premises was the fact that the part of the building that was rented out was once a functioning factory workshop. At that time, it was a completely nondescript building, with broken glass, but with an industrial entourage and, lo and behold, a marvelous concrete floor.

The renovation took a whole year. The interior was converted to the needs of the radio station. It was decided to leave the ZIL machine, cranes and beams and make color accents on this.

The workshop floor was also left in the form in which it was - if you look at the floor, you can see potholes and cracks that have remained since "production" times.

The design project was developed by the management and technical department of the radio station under the close supervision of Evgeny Bakaev.

At that time, it was a very unusual space, there was no fashion for open spaces yet, and editorial offices, publishing houses and radio stations huddled in corridor-type offices. And certainly there were no workspaces with such large windows.

Now only one of the meeting rooms reminds of the old office, pasted from ceiling to floor with photographs from the life of the radio station. This tradition appeared just in the old office - many photographs migrated from there.

Over the 20 years of Silver Rain's existence, a lot of artifacts have accumulated - scenery from the station's events, gifts from partners and friends. Here are some of them:

Radiokorov - a few years ago in Moscow there was a parade of cows, where everyone decorated their cows in the style of the company. "Silver Rain" made his own, beautiful, with speakers.

Cardboard presenters - staffages - were often installed at the Silver Galosh awards, and in the office they remind employees of the presenters who do not visit the radio station every day.

Radio receivers are gifts from different countries from friends and listeners. They are all tuned to 100.1 FM.

"Wishing Well" A real magical art object, made specifically for the "Silver Rain". And is it worth saying that it really brings good luck - checked.
