Officers of the Chicago Police Department heard suspicious sounds coming from an uninhabited house. Being ready to face anything, the police did not expect to meet living creatures there - if, of course, one can call two unfortunate dogs wandering in the semi-darkness of a collapsed house, which, obviously, had been starving for an unknown amount of time, since they already looked like skeletons.
Officers immediately took the dogs to the Trio Animal Foundation, where they were examined by veterinarians. The animals were so emaciated that they could not walk on their own.
Don't worry, our story has a happy ending - after many months, the dogs Emmy and Oscar recovered and returned to normal weight, and also found new families where they are happy and loved.
Two dogs were found in an abandoned house. The unfortunate animals lived in darkness, without food or water.
The Chicago police decided to check the building because of the suspicious sounds coming from there. The dogs would surely have died if not for a lucky break.
Emmy (left) and Oscar (right) were taken to the charity's doctors. The dogs were extremely emaciated and dehydrated, each weighing less than 10 kg. Emmy had an infection and Oscar had liver failure.
Emmy is being examined by veterinarians.
While Emmy was recovering, one of the employees of the organization was with her all the time. While the sick animal could not walk, Anthony carried it on his shoulder (pictured).
After Emmy recovered, it was time to leave - the dog had to be sent to a shelter to be taken by some family. But Anthony could not bear the thought of being separated from Emmy and took her home. Now the happy dog has a family and one more friend.
Oscar was not in the best condition when he was found.
After three months of intensive care and the care of doctors, Oscar recovered.
But no one took him to a new family, even with such a touching muzzle.
Until a family who already had a puppy came across an Oscar ad.
The family immediately took the happy Oscar to their home.
