We're convinced that New Zealand can be proud of not only stunningly beautiful nature and landscapes, but what is under the ground.

The region is the famous Waitomo glowing caves. And covers the cave like the night sky stars, thanks to a downright magical insect fireflies. They emit a phosphorescent glow, thus illuminating dark caves and creating an incredible atmosphere.

In the past year, Shawn Jeffers, a British photographer specializing in commercial tourism, proceeded along and across one of Witomski caves Ruakuri, removing the glowing insects. The photographer said that when turn off the flashlight and plunged into the absolute darkness that permeated only by the fireflies, you feel like you were in the movie Cameron "Avatar". A photograph of the Firefly, as told to Shawn, still what to shoot the night sky, although the shutter speed needs to be much more.

Images in this collection just made with shutter speeds from 30 seconds to 6 minutes. But these photos turned out, Sean had to be in the icy water along with a tripod for 6-8 hours a day. And, according to the photographer, it was worth it.
