Photo project — Porter, invisible people of New York

This idea is perfectly illustrated by the photo project of the Polish photographer Sam Golansky, who created a series of photographs of the New York porter.
Sam was struck by the idea of how much power these people have and how little attention we pay to them. They take care of us all the time we are in the hotel, and often have access to our personal information and even things. And yet this photo project is, perhaps, the first time when they really drew attention to them. "These guys are rare birds. You can't get a job like this over the Internet," the photographer told Metro newspaper. "Some are second—generation porters after their fathers." The series of pictures was created not without difficulties, which are understandable when photographing a doorman on duty. "It is difficult to photograph them, because by law they should not stand outside the building. So I had to persuade them to participate in the project. I don't think they've ever been photographed before."
