Pancakes with pike caviar and reconstruction of fist fights at the Moscow Maslenitsa Festival

On February 17, the most fun festival of this winter — "Moscow Maslenitsa" - started in Moscow. There are 13 festival venues located in the city center alone. Despite, let's face it, not very pleasant weather, you can have a pleasant and useful time at the Moscow Maslenitsa.

The organizers have prepared more than 1200 master classes. Street theater performances and musicians perform at the festival every day. In addition, professional reenactors are involved in the festival, who tell and show how our ancestors celebrated Maslenitsa.

The main dish of the festival is pancakes! At the "Moscow Maslenitsa" there are as many as 120 types of them, ranging from classic and traditional, ending with recipes for pancake aesthetes — with pike caviar, meat, lavender and basil fillings. On Tverskoy Boulevard, you can make a pancake according to your own design using a 3D printer.

On Tverskaya Square you can find trdelniki, loved since the winter festival "Journey to Christmas". If you didn't have time to try it last time, you have a chance to fix it.

For those who like to cook more than they eat, there are three culinary schools at the festival — on Manezhnaya Square, in Novopushkinsky Square and on Tverskaya Square. The "Pancake" school on Manezhnaya Square mainly conducts classes for children. The teachers have more than 50 pancake recipes in their arsenal.

Novopushkinsky Square also hosts classes for children during the day, and in the evenings there are open lessons for adults from Moscow chefs, participants of cooking shows and famous food bloggers.

Pancakes with lean fillings are baked on Tverskaya Square, where you can also master the preparation of pancake pies and cakes.

In addition to food, there are many useful and unusual things for home in the shopping chalets of the festival. On Tverskaya Square you can buy shawls, shawls and scarves in the style of Russian neo-folklore. On the neighboring counters there are leather products brought to the holiday by craftsmen from Kazan.

Tverskoy Boulevard has become the center of sports games and amusements. Here you can learn croquet, jump on trampolines, play basketball or walk through a rope park.

In addition, the youngest guests of the festival will be able to compete in rolling huge cheese heads or play "kolobok-bol". This is a team game based on the Canadian brumball. "Kolobok-bol" is very similar to hockey, but instead of sticks, brooms are used in it, and the puck is replaced by a ball ("kolobok").

A separate program for the "Moscow Carnival" was prepared by famous street theaters. Their performances will take place throughout the week.
