Many at least once in their lives dreamed that there was a certain mechanism that prevents them from calling their exes after libations. Perhaps very soon this will become a reality and the phone will be able to determine that its owner is drunk and block some functions. At least, scientists from Stanford University, in the USA, are sure of this.

Now smartphones will be able to find out whether their owner is drunk or not

Modern gadgets are equipped with a variety of sensors, including a gyroscope, which allows you to accurately determine the position of the device in space and track its slightest changes. It is this function that can be used to determine a person's intoxication.

Now smartphones will be able to find out whether their owner is drunk or not

The researchers conducted an experiment in which 22 people aged 21 to 43 years participated. Each subject actively drank for an hour, and then walked down the street with a smartphone attached to his belt. All this time, the device impartially recorded the position of the body and the speed of movement of the person.

As a result, it turned out that even with a blood alcohol content of 0.008%, 90% of the participants in the experiment changed their gait. Professor Brian Suffoletto, who led this study, claims that the smartphones of the new models have everything necessary to become accurate sensors of intoxication.

In order to use this unusual skill of electronic devices to advantage, you only need to create a mobile application. The functions of such software can be very different, ranging from notifying the user that he has had enough to drink and to blocking some functions of the gadget.

Or maybe smartphones will help out law enforcement officers where breathalyzers are powerless, for example, because of enlarged lips.
