Once the leatherette was a dermatin, and the hostel was a simple hotel. Let's remember those times, and at the same time find out what other names were replaced with more "fashionable" analogues.

From time immemorial, sellers have been sellers, and only in the last decade they have been actively renamed sales managers. If you dig deeper, it becomes clear that there is still a difference between these two terms. A seller is a person who sells a product. The sales manager contributes to the increase of these sales by fulfilling a certain plan. This is primarily a manager who works for the result in the company.

But the boundaries between these two professions have blurred, and now a badge with the inscription "sales manager" hangs on every ordinary seller. It is enough to go to any hardware store, and you will see as many "sales managers" as there are not even at business seminars.

If you turn to Wikipedia, it becomes clear that dermatin is a kind of artificial leather, which is a cotton fabric with a special nitrocellulose coating. In other words, one of the types of leatherette. It was widely used for upholstery of furniture, doors, manufacture of book bindings and so on. But even now, dermatin continues to be used. However, they call it leatherette or artificial leather.

Of course, there are many other varieties of artificial leather, more high-quality, aesthetic and resistant to wear. But if dermatin is used in the product, rest assured, no one will tell you about it. "Leatherette" sounds much nicer. In addition, the word "dermatin" has long become a household name — "the skin of a young dermatin" is jokingly called artificial skin, which they try to pass off as natural.

The word "hostel" itself means "hostel" in English. Therefore, it becomes both funny and sad at the same time when they try to wrap not the most presentable places of residence in a pink wrapper with its help. Until recently, hostels were widely distributed only abroad. If a person needed to stay somewhere for the night, but not spend a lot of money at the same time, he boldly went to the hostel, where he was settled in the same room with other similar people.

But recently hostels have started to appear en masse in the CIS countries. Indeed, "hostel" sounds much more beautiful than a one-star hotel or a hostel. But the essence does not change from this… This is also not the best accommodation, the owners of which can offer guests only a bed in a small room and a shared toilet.

This is probably one of the most "fresh" trends that has reached us quite recently. Koliving is a type of community that provides a format of cohabitation for people united by similar goals. In general, a communal apartment for students with a shared bathroom, toilet and a zone where joint events are held. Often there is also coworking in the koliving (yes, another buzzword meaning "office").

A two-bedroom apartment that students rent for three, we can say, is also a coliving. But now specially equipped kolivings have also begun to appear. They have kitchens, an office, living quarters and, in principle, all amenities. But the format remains the same — it is the cohabitation of several people, and the only difference from a student dormitory is the price.

Carsharing, bikesharing, kicksharing, foodsharing... all these beautiful buzzwords have a pretty simple meaning - renting something. Carsharing - rental of cars, bikesharing bikes, kicksharing scooters and so on. The word "sharing" itself is a tracing paper on the English "to share", which means "to share". In theory, any other words can be substituted for this "pretentious" ending, depending on what you want to share.

The number of different "-shares" is growing every day: there are services for renting toys, books, furniture, tools and much more. But while someone uses the "unfashionable" word "rent" and sells services at a standard price, others use "sharing" and pass off their service as something very modern and advanced. The price, of course, is different, but the quality is not always.
