1. At the same time, at the WWDC 2014 conference in San Francisco, the company introduced a new operating system for the "big" Mac OS X Yosemite.
2. The smart term "integration with OS X Yosemite" is a feature of the new iOS 8, which allows you to automatically duplicate any recordings on your iPhone, iPad or iMac. You write a message in your smartphone, and the history of correspondence is saved in other devices. So, when you start writing on your iPhone, you can safely switch to iPad without losing data. This feature is called Handoff and works in Mail, Safari, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Maps, Messages, Reminders, Calendar and Contacts.
iMessage compatibility has also been improved.
3. The Family Sharing feature allows you to share content between a specific group of users (up to 6 people). The most useful thing here is to control the spending of younger family members in the iTunes Store, for example. However, this is bad news for children.
4. For the first time in Apple mobile devices, it became possible to install keyboards from third-party manufacturers, including those that support the possibility of "sliding" input.
5. The Health app allows the user to monitor various vital signs, including calorie consumption, sleep quality and quantity, etc. The results are presented in an accessible form.
6. Wikipedia articles, news, nearby places, music tracks and videos, programs and books now appear in Spotlight. It is difficult to say how convenient and necessary it is.
7. Changes will also affect the Mail application. Letters can be marked as read or unread, saved as drafts, moved to separate folders.
8. And finally, great news for amateur photographers: any photo taken with an iOS 8 device will go to iCloud in full resolution. Recall that by default, Apple's "cloud" provides 5 GB for content storage for free.
9. The fall update to iOS 8 will be, as always, free. The list of devices that will support the new OS turned out to be significant: iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, fifth generation iPod Touch, iPad 2, iPad with Retina display, iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display.
