Navaio Bay is a protected beach on the Greek island of Zakynthos

Navayo Bay (Navagio) — one of the most beautiful bays on Earth. It is located in Greece in the northwestern part of the island of Zakynthos. Travelers love to relax on the snow-white sand of this bay. Here you can also see a rusty smugglers' ship that once crashed. This is a kind of local landmark, against which it is customary to take pictures.

Nature has prudently hidden this attraction from prying eyes behind inaccessible limestone cliffs, so access to the beach is possible only by sea transport.

One of the most beautiful corners of the world is surrounded by incredibly blue water, high mountains and an amazing section of rocks. Excursion boats regularly sail to the bay. The best time to relax on the local beach is before lunch, until the sun has set behind the rocks.

The attraction got its name in honor of the shipwreck that occurred in 1983 off the coast of Zakynthos. After all, in translation, the root of the word "navayo" means exactly "shipwreck". And the pirate ship itself, called "Panagiotis", was thrown ashore during a storm wind, where it still rests.

On the way to the bay there are many other interesting objects. Especially attractive are the Blue Grottoes of Cape Skinari, washed by crystal clear water.

To get to the southernmost island of the Ionian Archipelago, i.e. to Zakynthos, you can take a ferry from different parts of Greece. For example, after arriving at Athens airport, you can take a bus to the port in Killini, and then transfer to the ferry to the island. The sea crossing will take about an hour.

There are also ferries from the city of Patras and from Mullet. The island itself has an international airport and a well-developed road network. In order to get to Navayo Bay, it is best to use a taxi boat or a rented yacht. So at the same time you will be able to admire the surrounding landscapes.
