Nature has thrown up a riddle: a 10-meter whale was discovered in the Amazon jungle
In the forest of the island of Marajo, near the beach of Araruna, Brazil, biologists found the carcass of an 11-meter humpback whale. Mysteriously, the marine mammal turned out to be 15 meters from its natural habitat, while no injuries were found on its body. How did a humpback whale end up in the Amazon jungle? Scientists are trying to find out.

On February 22, an 11-meter whale carcass was found in the jungles of the Brazilian island of Marajo. The 10-ton marine mammal turned out to be near the mouth of the Amazon, 15 meters from the ocean.

Specialists went to the site to examine the remains and take samples.

Scientists believe that the animal died in the sea, and its carcass was thrown onto land by a powerful tide.
A team of ten biologists managed to get to the whale in the mangroves only on the second attempt.

According to the expert, humpback whales off the northern coast of Brazil in February are very rare.

Only an autopsy will be able to determine the cause of death of the animal.

The carcass lay in the thicket for several days before it was discovered.

The skeleton of the whale is planned to be transferred to the Goeldi Museum of Natural History for further research.
