Australians Suzy Quintali and her husband Nathan Reeves decided to leave their hometown of the Gold Coast for the Christmas holidays and relax on the resort island of Norfolk. Unfortunately, the rest was overshadowed by the fact that while swimming, Nathan lost his wedding ring. A few months later, it was found on a fish in the bay, but it could not be returned.
The ring worth a thousand dollars (74 thousand rubles) was lost during the Christmas holidays, when a man went swimming in the bay and did not take it off, despite the warnings of his wife.
The couple told friends living on the island about their loss, and they rushed to find the ring, and some even armed themselves with metal detectors, but all the searches were in vain. The couple returned home and did not even hope that the ring, lost, by the way, on the eve of the second wedding anniversary, would ever be found.
What was the surprise of the couple when they learned that this week a local diver, Susan Pryor, saw a lost ring that encircled the body of a mullet.
The girl knew that a couple had lost their wedding ring during a vacation, and miraculously managed to find them on Facebook, reporting the discovery. According to her, so far the fish is small, and the ring does not cause her discomfort, although it is quite heavy, but as it grows, the metal decoration will cut into her body.
According to Susan, all that remains now is to carefully catch the fish in the net and remove the ring from it. Local residents are already looking for nets and scuba gear to go in search of the ring again, but not the ring itself, but the ringed fish.
As for Nathan Reeves, who lost his engagement ring, as his wife told reporters, he did not understand the hype that arose after it became known that the ring slipped off his finger.
So far, the couple does not have the opportunity to return to the island to check whether the mullet cuts through the water in their ring.
