Australian neurosurgeon Charlie Teo, world champion surfer Lane Beachley and the author and founder of the event Nigel Marsh took part in the process along with 1,335 swimmers who came from all over Australia. This time the number of participants reached a record number.
The naked swim, the distance of which can be from 300 to 900 meters, was not invented to demonstrate nudity or find out who is faster, according to the organizers.
Such a swim is arranged to raise funds for several Australian charities.
The participants of the event do not undress until they are on the sand, and they are given sarongs (large pieces of cloth to wrap themselves in) as soon as they get out of the water. "Absolutely everyone is welcome. I encourage everyone to jump into the water and experience not only the freedom of nudity, but also the healing properties of complete dissolution in nature," says Lane Beachley.
