45-year-old Kelly Agnew was disqualified at the annual race Across the Years. The organizers said that the ultramarathoner recorded the lap time without running it. Agnew won the 48-hour competition four years in a row. The organizers had doubts about the integrity of the athlete back in 2015, when Agnew won a 48-hour race with an 88-kilometer margin, although he finished running seven hours before the end of the race.
In 2018, the organizers followed the athlete more closely. It turned out that he did not pass the control point at the distance. Instead, he sat in the toilet for seven minutes, and then ran out at the right time to cross the finish line, maintaining his "pace".
In addition to the disqualification from the last race, the organizers stripped Agnew of the title of winner in the four previous races.
