By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/mandopop-stole-and-10-more-decent-words-that-sound-very-indecent.htmlThe Russian language is a surprisingly complex system. This is confirmed by numerous comical mistakes in the spelling of Russian words in foreign films. But sometimes not only foreigners, but even native speakers themselves cannot understand it. For example, do you know what a stole, a perdimonocle, a mandopop is? These and other words from our selection sound rather indecent, although in fact they are completely harmless.
Although the word "threshing floor" is very consonant with another word denoting human waste, however, it has nothing to do with it. A threshing floor, or a threshing floor, or a current is a special platform or shed for storing grain, threshing it and other processing.
It's good that blueberries are called "blueberries", and not gonobobel, otherwise incidents would not be avoided. By the way, these berries have other variants of no less "indecent" names: vodopyanka, durakha, pyanichka, durnitsa and gonobob.
Don't be in a hurry to shout "that's a pell!" when something doesn't work out for you. It's like shouting "here's a perch!" or "here's a pike!", because peled is also a fish, which is sometimes also called "cheese".
Gondola, although a fairly common word, but it makes some people smile ... Stop it, there's nothing funny here! The gondola is a rowing boat, one of the symbols of Venice. It is on gondolas that locals and tourists move along the canals.
Another funny word that sounds like something indecent, and it is in this way that it is often used in speech. In fact, perdimonocle is a literary word, moreover, having a French origin. Literally, it translates as "lost monocle" (perdit monocle). Such a thing could happen either out of absent-mindedness, or because of a strong surprise… So, perdimonokl means something very surprising and unexpected.
And this is a modern word that is used to classify popular Chinese music. This is an abbreviated version of the phrase Mandarin popular music, but, agree, mandopop sounds much more fun.
A harmless term is often used to insult people because it is consonant, you know, with which word. In fact, the pipidaster has quite a decent value. This is a multi-colored fluffy stick with which dust is brushed off surfaces. Pipidaster - tracing paper from English PP duster (PP-duster). The letters PP stand for polypropylene.
And this term with a strange name came to us from winemaking. Perlage is called the "game" of carbon dioxide bubbles in a glass of champagne. For tasters, perlage is as important as the taste and color of wine. In decent wine, the bubbles are tiny, rise quickly to the surface, but do not burst at the first contact with air. Large bubbles that instantly fly up and disappear may indicate poor quality of the drink.
Well, the word "stole", which is very indecent at first glance, is part of the liturgical vestments. This is a long ribbon worn around the neck by an Orthodox priest and bishop. And its name came from the Greek language: the word "επιτραλλιον" literally translates as "that around the neck".
Valgus has nothing to do with female genitalia. This is a common deformity of the feet, especially among children, in which they acquire an X-shaped shape. Valgus means "curved" in Latin.
And again, associations with the female genital organ, although vagitus is not connected with it in any way… Vagitus is called the cry of a baby, which he emits immediately after birth. From Latin vagitus is translated as "squeal", "squeak" or "scream".
You might think that this is a device for measuring some parameters of women of easy behavior… But the curvimeter has a more important meaning – with the help of this device, the length of winding lines on topographic maps, plans and drawings is measured. The curvimeter can be useful when laying a tourist route, measuring the distance traveled, as well as for artistic forging.
And what other "indecent" sounding, but decent in meaning words do you know?
