Categories: Nature | Photo project

Australian photographer Steve Exford travels across the continent photographing mushrooms. Many of the rare species that fell into the lens of his camera were not previously photographed by anyone - Exford captured them first. The shots by Axford—and other photographers roaming the realm of mushrooms—reminiscent of an expedition to another world.

Steve Axford: "I strive to combine beauty with scientific precision, so most of my photographs capture fine detail and can be used to identify species."
