The photo project of the Frenchwoman Florian de Lasse (Floriane de Lassée) "Inside the species" tells about a lonely life in the big cities of the world. The scenes that Florian captured in different parts of the world are surprisingly similar to each other. De Lasse explains that, in her opinion, people in megacities feel much more lonely than those who live in small settlements.

The idea of the project originated when Florian lived in New York, where I watched people from the window of my apartment at night—for example, a woman who had been waiting for someone for a long time. Then Florian started taking pictures at night, and then continued working on the series, watching people from a window or from a balcony in Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai, Istanbul, Las Vegas, Beijing, Sao Paulo, Macau and Mumbai. Loneliness and insomnia are the same everywhere, says the photographer.
For some shots, Florian attracted models or photographed herself. Her favorite photo is a frame from Istanbul, where a mosque can be seen in the background, and in the foreground — a half-naked girl on a bed in a hotel room.
