Most men "over 70" consider fishing with a fishing rod an active holiday, and a walk in the forest for mushrooms is extreme. But there are exceptions to every rule and not all old people retire. Wyman Betts from Canada rides a motorcycle in his full 100 years. At the same time, he does not just ride, but "rides" with bikers all over the country.
Wyman Betts has more than half a century of experience riding two-wheeled cars. He started by riding a scooter to work, but after a couple of years he bought his first serious motorcycle. Today, the old man continues to drive motorcycles himself and is rightfully considered the oldest biker of the Americas.
Now Mr. Betts, whom fellow motorcycle gang members call Ban ("Bun"), is plowing the highway in a huge 2003 Honda Gold Wing. With this monster, which weighs like a micro-car, the old biker is controlled jokingly. This is something — up to 80 years Betts lifted his own Cessna 172 plane into the sky!
Among his fellow centenarian biker enjoys serious authority. They even plan to entrust him with the opening of the Bordertown Biker Bash 2020 motorcycle parade in Amherst, Nova Scotia, which will be held in July this year. Betts on his Honda will lead a column of thousands of motorcyclists in the USA and Canada.
At first, the organizers of the event doubted whether Wyman would cope with the responsible task. But then they thought and realized — if not him, then who? As for the 100-year-old grandfather, he claims that he feels great. Betts doesn't really look his age, he can be given a maximum of 75-80 years.
When journalists ask the oldest motorcyclist in Canada, and maybe the world, how he manages to be in great shape in his old age, Wyman Betts replies that he lives one day and never looks far ahead. This approach allows him to maintain mental balance, and this means a lot.
If a person passionately loves motorcycles, then not only age, but also the absence of a right hand will not be a hindrance to him. Don't you believe it? Then you should definitely read the story of biker Stephen Robinson, who made his hand out of an ordinary mannequin for clothes.
