It is difficult to judge the relevance of the phrase "a car is not a luxury, but a means of transportation." At the beginning of the XX century, when Ilf and Petrov composed it, cars were available only to a select few, but they were not at all luxurious. There are a lot of cars now, but some of them can't be called just vehicles.

One of the most popular models in Russia, which towers above the crowd in the literal and figurative sense, is the Lexus LX 570. Not so long ago, its new modification Superior appeared in dealerships. In April, we drove this handsome man to Yekaterinburg as part of the project "Golden Season with a BipCar". But only now I managed to gather my impressions into a fist and share them with you.

Superior is a new reading of the Luxury 21+ configuration (meaning the diameter of the discs, not the age limit), even more brutal. The 570th received an original radiator grille in the form of a spider web, black rear-view mirror housings, sports bumper pads and aluminum pedals. In general, the exterior of the car is very expressive. Especially considering that this is not a Ferrari or a Porsche, but still a "Japanese". From whatever angle you look at it — a man in the prime of life.

We spent the first hundred kilometers researching numerous electronic gadgets. The Kirov region, which met on the way, became an ideal testing ground for testing off-road characteristics. There was a road there, of course, but of very dubious quality. It is better not to accelerate faster than 50 km/h on a regular sedan in the Kirov region. But we were not careful even in the most threatening areas. Before the combination of a hydropneumatic suspension and a frame structure, the pits capitulated.

There were no complaints about noise insulation. In the Superior configuration, it was additionally improved with a body vibration damper, although there is a suspicion that the previous versions had complete order in this sense.

A 5.7-liter V8 engine is installed under the hood. The consumption, of course, is not bad, and the engineers balanced the voracity of the engine with an additional tank of 45 liters. In total, 138 liters can be poured.

For a car weighing two and a half tons, the Superior starts very briskly — thanks to the 8-speed box. At the same time, no jerks are felt even close. It feels like sitting on a cumulus cloud, which is driven by the sea breeze. What the doctor ordered, for driving on the federal highway. In the city, it is worth taking advantage of the hydropneumatic suspension and increasing the rigidity of shock absorbers. In sports mode, the feeling of flying over the road disappears and it becomes more convenient to enter turns.

We believe that, despite the solid price tag, Lexus LX 570 Superior will not experience a shortage of sales. And not only among 50-year-old men in ties, but also among younger drivers. An updated, more sporty appearance will contribute to this. In general, strive.
