In the 1990s, these jeans became even baggier and skaters, hardcore punks, ravers and rappers began to wear them to distinguish themselves from metalheads who preferred skinny jeans. In the early 1990s, tube jeans were mostly an underground trend, but gained wide popularity in the mid-1990s.
