Previously, portrait mode was only available on some cameras and smartphones on iOS (iPhone 7 Plus, 8 Plus and iPhone X) and Pixel and Pixel 2 XL on Android. Also, blurring could be added in third—party applications - for example, Magic Portrait Mode, FabFocus, LightX and Point Blur.

The icon of the Focus function is located under the record button between the boomerang and the superzuma. Blur works when shooting on both the front and main camera.
The Instagram update for iOS also includes stickers for mentions in "stories" that allow you to link to other users.
