In the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte on Thursday, an overpass collapsed, which began to be built as part of an infrastructure development program ahead of the 2014 World Cup. As a result of the tragedy, according to various sources, two people died and at least 19 were injured. The incident took place on the avenue named after Emperor Pedro the First. The concrete structure fell on a passenger bus passing under it, and also buried two trucks and a car under it. It is not yet known if anyone else remains under the rubble. Rescuers continue to work on the spot.

Next week, the semi-final match of the World Cup is to be held in this city.
