"I'm sorry, I don't need it": a British man was entrusted with a dog, and he threw it into a field

The owner of this terrier named Tess emigrated to Canada, and left the pet to a well-known neighbor. A few days later, he kicked him out into the field and left him there with an exculpatory note with the words "I don't need a dog." Fortunately, the animal was found by rescue service volunteers.

The text of the note: "The dog (Tess) is 12 years old. It's not my dog. A neighbor told me that she was chipped, and asked me to look after her, and she planned to start a new life in Canada. I reluctantly agreed, but I knew I wouldn't take care of her. Tess likes tea, coffee and milk with water. Her first meal is at about 11:30 in the afternoon. My neighbor was happy that her pet was in good hands. I'm sorry, but I don't need a dog."

The abandoned dog was seen by volunteers from an animal rescue organization who were holding a fundraiser at a car sale in Worksop. Next to her they found a bag of food, a bowl and a blanket.

Volunteers told about the animal found on the shelter's Facebook page, and 38-year-old Paul Edwardson turned to them: he recognized his mother's dog, 76-year-old Yvon Radcliffe, in the photo. Radcliffe asked a neighbor to look after the dog when she moved to Canada with a new man. And her son lives 28 kilometers from her house, in Doncaster. Paul said that on April 19, a neighbor agreed to pick up the dog, so his mother quietly went to Virginia.

Tess has been living with her mom for the last five weeks, and last Wednesday a neighbor took responsibility for her. He even said that he was preparing an aviary for Tess and was "happy to get a dog."

Sitting at home after work, I saw a photo of Tess on Facebook: I recognized the blanket in which she slept, and a collar with rhinestones. Not believing my eyes, I contacted the shelter that posted the post and explained the situation to them — the way it looks to me. Then, angry, he went to a neighbor. He was trying to make it look like Mom dumped Tess on the first person she met. He didn't see anything terrible in his act."

Late at night, Edwardson called his mother to tell her the news. The woman burst into tears, repeating over and over, "What happened to my dog?" The man said that "for such offenses it is necessary to punish harsher."

The creator of the animal rescue organization South Yorkshire Pet Ambulance service said that he and volunteers found the dog while raising funds at a car sale.

Alan Webster, Head of South Yorkshire Pet Ambulance service

South Yorkshire Pet Ambulance is a service in which volunteers rescue and transport animals and help the Royal Society for the Protection of Animals from Cruelty (RSPCA). Webster created this service 21 years ago. Now the terrier is being cared for by volunteers of the service of the city of Rotherham.
