IDEX-2015: Arms exhibition in the UAE

This year, Rostec State Corporation became the organizer of the Russian exposition at IDEX. Russia has presented over 700 samples of weapons and military equipment for the ground forces, air and naval forces, as well as air defense forces."

2. It is noteworthy that our country has had three world premieres at once at IDEX this year. For the first time abroad, the ADS amphibious assault rifle was presented. This two-medium special machine was developed by the Instrument Engineering Design Bureau (KBP; part of the Rostec State Corporation High-Precision Complexes company). The machine gun can fire both special cartridges for underwater shooting, and ordinary ones on land. Accordingly, combat swimmers can use the same weapon above and under water.

4. Of particular interest in our exposition is the self-propelled anti-tank installation "Chrysanthemum-S". At IDEX, she was put up as a full-scale model. Chrysanthemum is the world's only anti—tank missile system capable of detecting and destroying targets without optical visibility in conditions of smoke, fog and snowfall at any time of the day thanks to radar and optical-laser channels. This technique is able to conduct two targets simultaneously and launch missiles automatically.

6. Another Russian premiere is an export version of a set of combat equipment of Russian servicemen "Ratnik". It's not just clothes, of course. The "Warrior" includes about 60 elements. There are small arms, aiming and protection systems, and electronic means of communication and navigation. The modularity of the equipment allows you to create a set for any customer, including a foreign one. Representatives of Iraq, Kuwait and Pakistan. It's too early to talk about any contracts, but Russian products, apparently, have a good potential in the Middle East market.

The head of the Russian delegation, Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov productively held a number of meetings. In particular, during the meeting with the Co-Chairman of the Intergovernmental Russian-Emirati Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the parties discussed joint work on opening a Trade representative Office of the Russian Federation in the UAE. The UAE is also actively discussing military-technical cooperation and cooperation in the civil sphere, in particular in aviation. In addition, the participation of Arab investors in the construction of the Central Ring Road (CCAD) is being discussed.

12. In the context of sanctions, access to new markets is critically important. Russia has focused on the development of multifaceted cooperation with the countries of Latin America, the Asia-Pacific region, Africa and the Middle East. According to the Deputy Director General of Rosoboronexport S. Goreslavsky, the application of the sanctions policy against Russia had a positive impact on the promotion of Russian-made weapons abroad. One way or another, but IDEX really feels the increased interest of partners and customers in Russian products.

The complete absence of new developments, the lack of self-positioning and general despondency encouraged exhibition visitors to bypass the Russian stands. It's not surprising — a couple of faded balloons, we're holding him in a leaky camouflage jacket and a couple of black-and-white low-grade printouts with Soviet military equipment. Now they want to buy from us and want to cooperate with us.
