It looks like someone did it after all. 48-year-old American Laura Oglesby (Laura Oglesby) has been impersonating her 22-year-old daughter Lauren Hayes for two years. At the same time, she fooled both the federal authorities and the residents of her city.
It all started with the fact that in 2016, 43-year-old Laura Oglesby from the small town of Mountain View in Arkansas ordered a social security card in her daughter's name by mail. From that moment on, she began impersonating her 22-year-old daughter Lauren Hayes.
It all started with relatively innocent love affairs. The woman managed to get acquainted with guys 20-25 years old and have affairs with them. Jamie Perkins, the chief of the Mountain View Police Department, still can't understand how a mature woman managed to portray a young girl.
To seduce the young man, the lady was helped by an account in the Snapchat service, where Laura exposed photos with numerous filters. Detective Stetson Shvin, who investigated the case of the fraudster, believes that she got so used to the image that she almost believed herself that she was 22 years old.
But love affairs were not enough for Laura and she moved in with a couple Avery and Wendy Parker. The couple lived in Mountain View, as did Oglesby, but this did not bother the woman. She lied that she ran away from her husband who beat her and that she had nowhere to live. Manipulating the couple, Laura lived in their house for almost two years, all the while concocting her nefarious deeds.
And the youthful Laura had enough sins. She first enrolled remotely at Southwestern Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. Then I got a driver's license in the same state. Needless to say, everywhere Mrs. Oglesby appeared as 22-year-old Lauren Hayes.
Barely having passed the entrance exams, Laura applied for a federal student loan. Thus, she first appropriated $5,920 (435 thousand rubles) in the form of a grant, and then $1,863 (136 thousand rubles) in compensation for expenses. In the end, Oglesby became so brazen that she got a job at the Mountain View Library according to her daughter's documents.
But in 2018, the series of treacherous machinations came to an end. Mountain View authorities discovered a forgery with an insurance card and contacted the police. During the officers' first visit, Laura Oglesby denied everything. She was genuinely outraged that she was accused of stealing her daughter's identity and even shouted at the police.
But under the burden of evidence, the woman had no choice but to confess to the deception. Now Laura is accused of several articles at once and is awaiting trial. The lawyers of the fraudster hope that the jury will be lenient to the woman who wanted to return her young years. But at the same time, almost everyone is sure that Oglesby will "sit down" for at least 5 years.
But Laura seems to be just a harmless romantic against the background of a 47-year-old German woman who faked her death and ran away with a million.
