Scuba diver Jeremy Beau Sides from Atlanta uses sonar to solve criminal cases. Recently, a man managed to find out the truth about the disappearance of two young people who disappeared 21 years ago. They left home for a party and never came back. Find out what happened to the young lovers from our material.
42-year-old diver Jeremy leads his Exploring with Nug channel on YouTube. On November 30, he discovered a 1988 Pontiac Grand Am car at the bottom of a lake in Sparta, Tennessee. Inside were human remains, which will soon be identified.
The license plate of the car belonged to Erin Foster– an 18-year-old local girl who disappeared without a trace on April 3, 2000, along with her boyfriend, 17-year-old Jeremy Bechtel. For more than two decades, no one knew what really happened to the couple. The young people were last seen at Erin's house. They were going to go to a party on the outskirts of town. At 9 p.m., Jeremy called his father to pick him up on his way back from Erin's house the next day. But the couple never returned.
In a small town with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants, the news about the disappearance of a guy and a girl made a lot of noise. There were various rumors around this story. Some said that the young people were killed in connection with drug trafficking, others believed that they fled to Florida in search of a better life.
Only a month ago, gossip and speculation around the mystical disappearance subsided. Scuba diver Jeremy Sides secretly came to the town in order to solve this mystery. He found out the story of Erin and Jeremy quite by accident, looking through the lists of missing people on the Internet. The man read that they disappeared with the car. The diver saw that a river was flowing in that area, and this detail interested him. So he decided to go to Sparta without telling anyone that he was going to start searching.
Jeremy Sides was combing the bottom of various rivers and lakes in the vicinity of Sparta, trying to find traces of Erin and Jeremy. He corresponded with the creator of a Facebook page dedicated to two missing teenagers to identify places to search. Since the man was one of Erin's best friends, the scuba diver was able to learn important and precise details from him.
On the first day of searching, Jeremy found a flooded car, but it didn't belong to Erin. For the next 24 hours, he dived in various bodies of water around the city until he came across a car in the Kalfkiller River. The diver explored the bottom using a side-view sonar.
The diver managed to determine the make of the car and the license plate. They matched Erin's missing car, a Pontiac. Sides immediately contacted the local sheriff to report the discovery.
A team of divers lifted the car from the bottom of the river on the same day. Inside, investigators found human remains, which, so far, have not yet been identified.
Despite the fact that the investigation is still ongoing, it is highly likely that the remains found belong to Erin and Jeremy. The police assume that the young people lost control of the car and fell into the river, where they drowned. At the time when the couple disappeared, there was no protective fence along the road near the river.
Erin's father constantly fished in the Kalfkiller River, not knowing that his daughter's remains rest at its bottom. Jeremy Sides is very sympathetic to the families of the deceased lovers, but the suffering parents finally found out the truth about the fate of their children. The families of the missing teenagers are grateful to him for revealing the mystery of their disappearance.
Nevertheless, many locals are outraged about the found car. They express their disappointment, because the diver managed to do in two days what law enforcement agencies could not do in 20 years.
Jeremy Sides at first did not plan to make a video about the investigation of unsolved cases. The diver uploaded videos of himself combing rivers and lakes in search of discarded or stolen items, such as guns and phones.
Everything changed in 2019, when one of his fellow divers stumbled upon a car with a body inside while diving. So he solved the "hanging" alone. Jeremy decided to follow his example and began to search for missing people and investigate cases of disappearance across America.
The diver says it's hard work, but it helps many people get the answers they've been looking for for so long. For some families, Jeremy Sides is the last hope to find out the truth. The man continues to search for the missing, but does not disclose details until he gets to the truth. He secretly travels around the cities and tries to be as inconspicuous as possible in order to personally come to accurate conclusions.
When a person disappears, or even worse, a group of people, it always raises questions. Some disappearances are so mysterious that it's hard to believe in them.
