By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/home-striptease.htmlA dancing pole is not always something vulgar, something to do with striptease and stripping. Many use it as a tool to achieve the desired plasticity and flexibility. And, right at home.
Photographer Tom Sanders has worked on serious projects, such as a photo series about World War II veterans, Native Americans, and so on. However, his recent project is markedly different from others. This time, the author found a rather unusual source of inspiration - dance poles or pylons at home. While living in Los Angeles, Sanders spoke to a model who had a pylon in her kitchen. And so began his series "Dancing at Home" ...

1. When Sanders started working on the project, he took a more obvious and sexy approach to photography. (Tom Sanders)

2. However, this approach disappeared as quickly as it appeared, because the author realized that for these women such a thing as a pole at home meant something more than just a striptease attribute. (Tom Sanders)

3. “I suddenly realized that it was all about strength,” says Sanders. “For them, it was something sacred.” (Tom Sanders)

4. He started working with striptease dance schools to find models for his project. (Tom Sanders)

5. Most of these women live in Silicon Valley in California. (Tom Sanders)

6. Sanders says gaining the trust of these women was a critical part of the project, as many of them learn the art of pole dancing in the safety of their home, their "feminine" habitat. (Tom Sanders)

7. “At first it was pretty weird: some guy comes to your house and takes pictures of you while you are dancing at the pole,” says Sanders, laughing. “But I still won their trust.” (Tom Sanders)

8. Sanders used a fairly simple thing during the shooting - he used only one light source. (Tom Sanders)

9. In order for the work to be successful, it is not particularly necessary to somehow allocate a pole for dancing in the middle of the apartment - it already stands out noticeably in such an environment. (Tom Sanders)

10. “What they do is pretty extreme. Hanging upside down and the like. As a result, the viewer seems to be spying on them. (Tom Sanders)

11. “There is also a bit of humor in the footage, something that Sanders especially loved about this work, something that feels sacred in the sense of fine art. (Tom Sanders)

12. Sanders says that he himself is not quite ready to try pole dancing. "Never". (Tom Sanders)

13. “They offered me a try, but they are so strong and flexible. I would look like an idiot." (Tom Sanders)

14. “I need at least three beers to get on the dance floor, so a sexy pole dance is probably my worst nightmare.” (Tom Sanders)
