Happy Cape Fur Seals

By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/happy-cape-fur-seals.htmlSydney-based photographer Alistair Pollock captured some great pictures of happy Cape fur seals in the waters around Montague Island in New South Wales. His passion for underwater photography is evident in his ability to photograph large fur seals in incredible playful poses. Take at least the first picture - this is a real thinking cat. Look, he even has thought bubbles!

1. Montague Island is a great place if you like to photograph the life of marine mammals.
2. Here the famous fur seals can be seen directly from boats around the northern part of the island.
3. And if you are an adventurer like Pollock, then feel free to go down under the water. Over 1,000 fur seals can be seen here regularly in late winter and spring.
4. Two types of fur seals can be found in the waters around the island.
5. The Cape Fur Seal is known for sitting in small groups on rocks, sometimes on top of each other.
6. Less friendly New Zealand fur seals also live in these waters.
7. They prefer a looser "intimate space" and may bite other seals that dare to swim too close.
8. Around Montague you can also see penguins, humpback whales and bottlenose whales.
9. And sometimes you can even stumble upon a killer whale that appears here a couple of times a year.
