Girlish fantasies in the wild forest

Melbourne-based photographer Jessica Tremp uses her camera to finally fulfill her childhood fantasies. “When I was little, I dreamed of becoming a dancer or a dramatic actress, and also be able to fly and speak the language of forest animals. Now I have found a way to make all these dreams come true with the push of a button on the camera,” says Jessica.

A series of photographs called "Gathering Firewood" is filled with images created by the author's imagination of a young girl making her way through a mystical and sometimes dreary forest. Several furry and feathered friends accompany the main character on her journey through the enchanted forest, on the way to come to terms with her emotions. The series depicts a variety of inner experiences of the girl - from loneliness and the collapse of hopes to friendships and triumphant freedom.
