German scientists have explained why beer helps us to become happier

But scientists from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg studied beer and the mechanism of its effect on humans and made an important discovery. It turns out that alcohol plays a secondary role here, and a completely different substance makes us happy.

After a thorough study of several dark and light beers, as well as studying numerous blood tests taken from people of different genders, ages and degrees of beer intoxication, the researchers found out that hordein (Hordenine) is to blame for everything.

This is one of the 13 thousand substances that, as it turned out, are contained in ordinary beer, but it acts precisely on the dopamine receptor D2. Thanks to this effect, we are visited by that joyful and light feeling that we attributed exclusively to the alcohol contained in beer.

Chordein is an analogue of our hormone of joy dopamine, only it is contained in barley malt. By the way, due to the fact that this substance comes from the outside and gradually, it gets to the reward center in our brain in a different way. Because of this, it acts much better and longer than dopamine.

So now, after drinking a good beer, you should understand that you are not getting drunk, but just becoming happier and everything is going as it should, that is, according to the laws of science. I wonder if the beer made by the Finns on goose droppings has the same properties?
