But not for everyone. This year, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg told everyone on his social network page that he had changed an established habit and for the first time did not waste time on short-term plans, but looked into the future for a whole decade.
In an address to Facebook users, Zuckerberg said that he was not going to set an annual goal and immediately wanted to look at the period up to 2030. Moreover, we are talking not only about the life of Mark himself and the work of his company, but also about things on a global scale.
Zuckerberg told his readers that when he created his social network, he did not feel at all that anyone was listening to his generation. Facebook has become a platform where young people can freely express their opinions.
At the same time, the businessman admitted that although many people now have the right to vote, so far this has not led to a significant redistribution of forces when making fateful decisions. Most of the important problems are still solved by the voices of the older generation.
Zuckerberg believes that in this decade millennials will take a stronger position and will take an active part in management at different levels. For his part, the head of Facebook promises to continue supporting young people through his charitable foundation. Further investments are planned in education for scientists, entrepreneurs and leaders of various levels.
The creator of the most popular social network on the planet is sure that the Internet gives people a "superpower" — they can be aware of a huge number of events and constantly stay in touch. Thanks to this, they have become less dependent on circumstances in work and relationships.
At the same time, Zuckerberg stressed that this gave rise to new problems previously unknown to society. The most important of them, he considers the feeling of a person's role, his need. At the same time, Mark recalled his childhood in a small town, where it was easy to find his role and be useful and respected. Now that you are in a billion-dollar community, it has become much more difficult to find yourself.
Mark Zekerberg believes that in this decade the social infrastructure will undergo a number of changes and the role of small communities in society will increase again. Along with this, the almost erased sense of closeness and uniqueness of personality will return to people.
The owner of Facebook recalled that the past decade has been marked by a significant growth of the technology industry and in 2020-30 this growth of opportunities will continue. The social network will take further part in this process, helping entrepreneurs to find their consumers.
Already, more than 140 million companies are finding their customers thanks to Facebook. In the new decade, Zuckerberg plans to create new commercial tools and payment technologies, among others. They will allow small companies and even individuals to use the same technologies that are currently available only to large business players.
According to Zuckerberg, smartphones became the main digital platform of the 2010s, the world Wide web dominated in the 2000s, and in the 90s everything was kept on desktop PCs. At the same time, each of the following platforms became more and more efficient and accessible to users.
According to Mark's forecast, in the 2020s, the smartphone will remain the main device, but at the same time get more functionality due to augmented reality. This will allow people to rethink their attitude to modern technologies. Zuckerberg is confident that the opportunities provided by AR and VR will help solve many serious problems, for example, rising housing prices.
The most important task to be solved in the coming decade, Zuckerberg considers the problem of managing digital communities that exist thanks to the Internet. He emphasized that Facebook constantly has to maneuver and look for compromises between the possibility of self-expression and security, law and privacy, the creation of open systems and the protection of personal data.
Zuckerberg explained that there is no universal answer to these questions and in order to maintain a delicate balance, you need to constantly focus on the approval of society. He believes that it is wrong to place the entire burden of decision—making on companies - governments should take an active part in management, especially in those issues related to malicious content, data protection and the right to choose.
Another solution to the problem is new ways of self—management of communities. As an example, the founder of Facebook cited the Supervisory Board, which will soon start working in his social network. Thanks to it, every user will be able to appeal decisions concerning controversial content.
