Forest Princess and mermaids: Perm photographer takes fabulous beauties in the forests of the Kama region

The characters of her photo projects have no place in the Studio. Perm photographer Maria Lipina holds mystical photo shoot in remote Perm forests, vast fields, small villages. She turns everything around into a fairytale, and models in princes and princesses, of knights and mermaids, witches and Queens.

Maria Lipina began to photograph at age 19. Prior to that, she drew their fantasies embodied on paper, and the only thing in this hobby she didn't like the fact that from the idea to the last stroke took too much time.

— Visualization of the internal attitude, attitude is my constant need since childhood. But the means of expression — are different, says Maria. Photography suits me better than the rest, I'm very "choppy" people, those who want everything at once and right now.

Maria immediately began to experiment and invent their own stories and mystical, fantastic, magical. Born images of mysterious forest princesses, mighty Vikings, the ladies of mountains and rivers.

From the very beginning I realized that I want to make is not what I see around, but rather those of the characters and the characters that inhabit my head, not to the extent impregnated with classical literature, historical films and the pre-Raphaelites (movement in English painting during the second half of the XIX century, whose members refused to "armchair" painting and began to paint outdoors. — Approx. ed.).

The girl says that the heroines of her tales have no place in a photo Studio. So often it takes on nature.

— For me, these pictures taken in nature, more "live", or something. We work in the primeval forests of the Urals, in the vast fields, on the background of castles or by the sea... from the front garden of the neighboring house, ending with the Trevi fountain in the heart of Rome. Not all of course, filmed in the Perm region, although the region is very inspiring to me — one has only to imagine the dawn of Osvenskii pillars, breathtaking. I take a lot of photos in Moscow, was shot also in St. Petersburg, Tyumen, Yekaterinburg, Kiev, Yalta, Sevastopol and other cities. Held shooting in Italy, Greece, Thailand. But most of all remember the poppy field in the Crimea, red to the horizon, and the stormy sky above him.

— Why you often choose these characters for your photo shoots — the mystical beauties in fabulous outfits?

Now I understand that everything that happens to us from childhood. From an early age I was doing what I read the "Narnia" mixed in with fashion magazines, walking in the woods (I had it next to the house) and played with the mountains of rags and dresses, Dositej and unsewn (my mother worked as a seamstress).

Treasure in the snow

Preparing for this photo shoot as a preparation for the shooting of the film. Need to come up with a script, find actors, to sew costumes and prepare the scenery... Shooting outdoors is one to two days. Photo processing — from a few hours to several days.

— Sometimes the project starts with the dress. We are together with my mom create another image. She sews, I make accessories. It is a long process, so I'm always very happy, if I find suitable designers, with which we can cooperate... unfortunately, in Perm such yet. It happens that a project starts from the place — for example, I see a beautiful clearing in the forest and think what to use it for filming.

Models for their projects Maria chooses itself. Says she really likes girls with long hair.

Sometimes I just look at a person and think that he would like to photograph. And people agree, the idea of shooting in the style of fantasy many people love it. It's such an adventure... And for the photographer and for the model.

This photo Maria did on Pivinski poles. Says to get to the filming location, we had to go five hours by car, five miles to go along the river and 40 minutes to climb the mountain.

— It was very scary that the model can glide to a greater depth, the bottom clean the ice, so, before lowering into the hole a model, I climbed up there myself. Checked everything, and then we plunged into the water Oksana — says Maria. — Of course, under the dress chemical protection (something like rubber waterproof pants), as well as warm pants and shoes.

"We just found a beautiful door, well, and decided to shoot," says Maria

The shooting took place on the banks of the Kama river in Perm, it was very windy. The whole operation lasted no longer than 15 minutes
