Even the most sophisticated will be hot from Gerard Schlosser's paintings

Late summer evenings are hot afternoon languor, when girls lie down on the grass to sunbathe, the air is filled with the aromas of damp earth, life is in full swing and it seems that summer will never end. These feelings, thoughts and images are reflected with amazing precision and photographic quality in the paintings of the contemporary French artist Gerard Schlosser.

Gérard Schlosser was born in 1931 in Lille, but now lives and works in Paris. He studied at the Paris School of Applied Arts from 1948 to 1951, and taught himself wood carving.

His name is associated with the art movement known as narrative figuration (or figurative painting), and Schlosser's work has a distinct French Pop Art feel. Schlosser joined the figurative painting movement in 1953, and since 1970 has used photographs in his work, like other hyperrealist artists. He prefers to focus on specific parts of the body, and his paintings are erotic, sensual, and intimate.
