Environmental mining: the Briton invests manure in the business, and receives cryptocurrency

Categories: Technology

Despite the fact that the passions around cryptocurrencies have somewhat subsided, millions of people on our planet are still engaged in mining. What entrepreneurs did not use as an affordable source of energy, starting from solar panels, ending with illegal connection to the systems of a nuclear power plant. But all these guys were put under the belt by a resident of the British county of Denbighshire, Philip Hughes, who mines cryptocurrency with the help of... cows.

Philip uses anaerobic digesters to generate the energy needed to mine digital gold. In them, a clever Briton lays manure, from which methane gas is obtained for an electric generator. The capacity of the equipment is enough not only to receive the Ethereum cryptocurrency, but also to supply the Hughes farm with electricity.

The technology for extracting methane from manure was invented long before there was mining, but it seems that Hughes was the first to think of turning cow feces into electronic currency using anaerobic processes. Now the Briton earns not only on tokens, milk and meat from his farm, but also on renting equipment for unique manure mining.

Philip says that he has already rented 42 installations for the power supply of mining farms, each of which cost him 18 thousand pounds (about 1.8 million rubles). The main part of the system is a special computer that fits in a medium-sized suitcase, but the anaerobic digester, the second element of the installation, is quite large.

When speaking to the press, Hughes declined to name the amount earned with the help of manure. But at the same time, he said that he considers his income from mining Ethereum to be good. According to Philip, his equipment works flawlessly, like a clock, but the profit depends on the current exchange rate of the cryptocurrency, which is very unstable.
