By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/doctors-warn-fried-potatoes-are-killing-our-brains.htmlWe love potatoes in any form. Puree, simply boiled, baked in the oven and over a fire, in the form of potato pancakes - the list is endless. But the queen of dishes made from the iconic root vegetable is, without a doubt, fried potatoes. Many people eat it several times a week and, according to doctors, cause serious damage to their brain.
Russian nutritionist Elena Solomatina warns that fried potatoes are the most harmful of potato dishes. It literally “breaks” the human brain. The high glycemic index is to blame for everything - after fried potatoes, the level of glucose in the blood jumps.
The glycemic index (GI) is an indicator that indicates the rate at which carbohydrates from a food pass into the blood and increase sugar levels. A higher index means a faster process. High glucose levels stimulate the production of insulin, and this can lead to damage to the vascular endothelium. The body begins to “patch” these defects with cholesterol, which narrows the lumen of the blood vessels.
This leads to impaired blood circulation, including in the brain, which will receive less oxygen and nutrients. “Starvation” of this kind can cause the death of neurons and, as a result, a decrease in brain activity. The doctor says that the brain seems to be “breaking.” Memory deteriorates, attention and the ability to make quick decisions decrease.
It's good that there are foods that can lower cholesterol levels. So if you've been a fan of fried potatoes for a long time, then it's time to stop and switch to these products that help return your vessels to shape.
