It is well known that plants absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen. Obviously, potted houseplants behave the same way. We keep them on windowsills for beauty and usually do not think about whether they affect the quality of indoor air. Scientists have studied this issue and told us what to expect from our geraniums, orchids and ficuses.

Wolverton stated that indoor plants have the ability to improve the composition of indoor air. The scientist also spoke about their ability to absorb some harmful substances. The work of a scientist from the USA was supposed to make a revolution in science, but, unfortunately, this did not happen.

Later studies conducted by other biologists refuted Wolverton's conclusions. Green plants in the premises turned out to be almost useless in terms of improving air quality. That is, they influenced its composition, but very slightly. The inhabitants of pots and vases processed from 0.9 to 9 percent of harmful substances, depending on the type.
