Dissect frogs and do homework in virtual reality: what the new iPad for schoolchildren can do

At the conference, which was held in one of the Chicago schools, Apple introduced a new generation of iPad — in terms of price-quality ratio, it is called the most affordable device from the company.

The tablet will cost $ 329, but schools will be able to purchase it for $299. However, the company has not yet specified whether the discount will be valid outside the United States.

The new iPad weighs only 150 grams with a screen width of 25 cm, is compatible with the Apple Pencil electronic pencil, previously available only with the expensive iPad Pro model, and is available in gray, silver and gold.

The presentation of the new device took place at a conference dedicated to education, and Apple representatives emphasized that the functionality of the new tablet, as well as the price, are literally designed for schoolchildren across the country to switch to it from notebooks and desktop computers.

The device is stuffed with a high—resolution Retina screen, an 8-pixel camera and a 64-bit A10 Fusion processor. It also has TouchID fingerprint recognition technology, a front-facing camera and an LTE function.

Technically, this is not a breakthrough for the company — it is much more interesting how the new tablet can be used in training and what schoolchildren can do on it. The device supports about 200 thousand different applications for education — students can forget about the diary, notebooks and textbooks, and with them about backpacks, because they will have everything they need in the applications.

Teachers, accordingly, will be able to say goodbye to magazines, and homework will be sent via iMessage.

If schools with their small budgets still have to think about equipping their students with technological gadgets, then Apple has probably already bribed the students themselves with its augmented and virtual reality functions.

Learning will become much easier and more interesting — you can explore the cosmos by scrolling the planets in front of you, or take a walk with dinosaurs in virtual reality. In biology class, with the help of a camera and the right application, a frog can be placed on a desk in front of you and dissected with a stylus — no living creature will be harmed.

Before that, Apple had already tried to become an electronics supplier for educational institutions. In the 80s and noughties, she ran successful campaigns, and for a while schools and universities in America boasted of Apple computers.

But if then Apple was forced to make huge discounts and significantly simplify its devices, today it simply gives out a finished product and offers the best solution for schools among competitors.
